Writing challenge update

I’m one week in and have about 18,000 words in. So I’d say as far as word count goes, it’s going well!

My process is to unleash the flood gates and let the story rush onto the page. I don’t worry about beautiful writing, or grammar, or even keeping things consistent. Even if i make huge changes–changing POV or tense, for instance–I just jot down the change in my project journal and keep on typing.

Is the draft a mess at the end? You betcha! But the storyline is there, more or less. And the characters have some semblance of character. There’s enough there to support writing the second draft, where the magic starts to blossom.
